in the green heart of Europe

Bollendorf Castle is located in the middle of the German-Luxembourgish Nature Park, directly on the banks of the lively and fish-rich Sauer river. The climate is mild, gentle mountains protect the valleys from wind and cold.

Extensive agriculture with lush green meadows alternates with many dense deciduous and mixed forests, which are also home to rare animals and plants. The air is pure and velvety, because there is no industry far and wide - plenty of space to breathe deeply and enjoy the silence or the bird concerts.

Luxembourg's Little Switzerland with its spectacular, vertically towering rock formations is very close by; on the German side, the wild, always somewhat mysterious Teufelsschlucht lures.

A real menhir carved by early Christians bears witness to the Celtic heritage on the nearby Ferschweiler plateau, which as a wooded block of sandstone floats like a ship on the fertile Bitburger Gutland: the Frabillenkreuz. Man has always been a part of nature here.
